Are you entitled to full sick pay
whilst I am off work recovering?

There is no automatic right to get full sick pay whilst off work.

The first place to start when trying to determine whether you will get full sick pay whilst off work is to look at your contract of employment.

It may be that any sick pay scheme is mentioned. Or it may be that the employer may use their discretion and make a payment depending on what has happened.

If you discover that there is no sick pay scheme in operation then you should at the very least be entitled to Statutory Sick Pay (SSP). This is paid from the fourth day of any period of illness or injury and lasts for a maximum of 28 weeks. This is paid for each day that you would normally and usually be working and works out at £70.05 per week.
